Wonderful workshop weekend

I spent two great days this weekend at an idylic setting in Worton, Maryland taking a workshop in metal clay reposse from Holly Gage.  I posted a picture of her technique last week – it is a wonderful way to make art from pictures of your own garden, or where ever your favorite setting is.

I took one of mys old photo of the Lewes lighthouse to the workshop .  The technique is work intensive, so everyone took their pieces home to complete, but here are some pictures from the weekend.

This is the original picture labled so I can remember which parts should some forward or be in the background.

Here is the simplified drawing from the original.

This is the mold carving at about the half-way point.
Hopefully, I will have some time this week to complete the piece.  I’m excited at how it is coming along.  We have several house projects to complete this week, including finishing the den floor mosaic, completing the bathroom redo, and hopefully getting the taxes done, so unfortunately the studio is on the back burner for a while.
While we are talking projects, we took a field trip to see a friend’s treehouse today.  We are planning on building one of our own on the banks of the pond sometime this spring.  Here are some pics of our inspiration today:

Our planned treehouse will not be as tall, or quite as big, but I can promise wonderful views of the pond, multiple species of dragonflies, and probably a wood duck or two!
