The First Annual Redneck Riviera Women’s Art and Yuengling Weekend is now complete. The brainchild of my wonderful partner Linda and my friend Candy, this weekend was offered to as an alternative to the usual beach weekend – which provides only the limited percs of sunny beaches, good restaurants, and crowds. Instead, our friends who participated were invited to sip beer and margaritas, eat pork sandwiches and “Martha’s” mac and cheese, read books in the pool or treehouse, and — of course — make art. Although the pool continually called to us, Candy and I did find some time to draw and paint. I even road the Ferry back with her on Sunday so we could have a drawing competition using the Ferry passengers as unwilling and unknowing models. I took a quick pic of some of the weekend’s work on our mantle. The two lower drawings and paintings are Candy’s, and the larger pastel is mine.
I highly recommend that you schedule such a weekend with friends and family soon. Part pajama party, part art demo, and a wonderful time spent with new and old friends.
