  1. In Hawai’i we have a flower called the Naupaka. It is white and only grows with half a flower, much like your painting. There is a legend about a prince who fell in love with a commoner. When the king found out about the affair, the prince was banished to the mountains and the girl to the sea. The prince torn a flower in half to symbolize there separation with one half going with the girl and the other with himself. The Naupaka only grows in the mountains and at the seaside.
